I have expressed on several occasions my love for, or for the nobel ATTEMPT of high quality, high budget porn. It comes every now and then, usually out of the blue and it’s like lightning in a bottle. Never to be duplicated. Never to be repeated. And unfortunately never to be successfully sequelized (at least not ‘critically.’) I have my fingers crossed that this may be just that.

‘Malice’ depicts an updated, combined take on Lewis Carroll novels “Alice in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking-Glass.” Described by its makers as “an action packed, rock ‘n roll road movie.” Though if it were up to me I think i’d word that: “…an action packed, rock ‘n roll road movie…that has RON JEREMY in it.” I don’t know…says it all I think.

This has the look of a dirty, grimy “True Romance” meets “Brazil” meets “Twin Peaks.” With sex instead of drugs, giant animal head masks instead of midgets, and a sharp edge around every biting, cock teasing scene. I like everything about the feel…I just haven’t seen enough to fully let go and allow myself to hope against hype, for fear of ending up with a broken heart.

Also called “Alice in Wonderland” the Caballero Home Video starred Kristine DeBell and Alan Novak, and was directed by the legendary Bud Townsend.

It’s been quite awhile since porn attempted an adaptation so I think I can allow this to be the last XXX parody that doesn’t bother me.

It’s directed by Erica McLean, who was nominated this year for six AVN awards for “Hardcore Circus,” and Carlos Batts, who was nominated for Best Director-Non-Feature for his work on “Voluptuous Biker Babes.”
