Slang term for the act of slapping someone’s face with a penis. The origins of this term are disputed, but a recently unearthed diary by the creator of the Smurfs comic strip, Belgian cartoonist Peyo, sheds some light on the “Smurfing” mystery.
In 1960, when his cartooning career was taking off and his Smurfs were gaining in popularity, Peyo attended a painting performance by the French artist Yves Klein during which Klein covered nude female models with blue paint and dragged their bodies across a blank canvas, effectively turning the women into living brushes.
Peyo struck up a conversation with one of the models, 23-year-old Aurélie Chatte-Serrée, and took her back to his studio. After a few drinks, he told Aurélie, “I too have a special paint brush.” Then he removed his trousers and dipped his penis into a bottle of light blue ink that he used for drawing his signature creation: the Smurfs.
“Come over here, my sweet,” whispered Peyo. “To Klein you were merely a brush, but to me you shall be the canvas.” At this point, he bent over a kissed Chatte-Serrée, who was kneeling on the floor in front of him, gently on the lips, and then he began “painting” on her face with his Smurf-blue dick.
Over the last 50 years or so, the blue ink has disappeared, but the cock slapping has remained, and today “Smurfing” is still enjoyed by millions of people around the world.
