This French slang term for orgasm literally means “little death.” It’s kinda morbid, sure, but also kinda hot. It’s like you die a little bit every time you have a sexual release. Hey, we’re all going to die some day anyway, so we might as well have as many orgasms as we can along the way.
By the way, did you know that when a man is hanged, he ejaculates? It’s true. We’re not sure if that’s related at all to the origin of the French expression “Petite Mort”, but we thought it was worth mentioning. One legend says that a mandrake plant will grow wherever a hanged man’s semen touches the ground. Another legend says that when the root is dug up it screams and kills all who hear it, and that’s partly why mandrake root is used so much in witchcraft.
