Harlot is an old fashioned term used to describe a prostitute. Dating back to the Middle Ages, Harlot’s were known to accept numerous types of currency in return for sexual favors, including anything from gold coins and animal pelts, to dead turkey buzzards and smoked rodents. In fact, at one time a man could trade a common mole or cockroach for an entire night with a Harlot.
Given the fact that Harlots commonly accepted next to nothing as payment for sex, it is not surprising that the term has become synonymous with slut or whore. Today, any girl who gets drunk in a dorm party and has sex with two guys at the same time, could be called a Harlot (although probably not by anyone under the age of 50). Similary, any hot young female who acts too flirtatious, or sleeps with numerous people, could also be dubbed a harlot.
1. Uncle Herb thought the babysitter was a bit of a Harlot after she repeatedly grabbed his stick shift when he drove her home.
2. Roxy got called a Harlot by a church lady when she was working the street one night, but because she had the education of a Crackwhore, and the word sounded a bit Victorian, she assumed it was a compliment.
