Clit Lit is a genre of literature designated to lesbian fiction and non-fiction work. Often assigned to titles one might see on the Oprah’s Book Club choice list, or in Ellen Degeneres’ personal library, Clit Lit usually involves some sort of love story, period drama, and abusive or domineering male character. The general antagonist is either a fiercely independent lesbian who is openly gay and tries to guide a poor, bi-curious woman under her wing, or the antagonist is the poor, shy, and bi-curious young woman who needs to be saved from her treacherous husband or father.
Either way, the end of the story usually comes with the two women hooking up, professing their lesbian identity to the community they live in, and living happily ever after in a log cabin in the woods, or in a farmhouse in town with an organic veggie garden behind the house.
I know what most men out there are probably thinking, and the answer is no. Unfortunately, Harlequin romance novels do not have ANY clit lit titles available from their authors.
1. Last time I took women’s studies in University, we had to read nothing but Clit Lit and articles with the word “hetero-normativity” in it. I have no idea what that means, but I definitely got lots of material for my spank bank just by doing my weekly required readings.
2. My old English professor once told me that Oprah read nothing but Clit Lit. Not surprisingly, he was recently fired for sexually harassing his female students.
