Venus Lux Is A Transsexual Superstar!
Venus Lux has a pretty face, big tits, a hard cock and a great attitude. When you combine all of those attributes you have one of the hottest transsexual pornstars on God's green earth. Not only that, but Venus is Asian, giving her movies an exotic feel that most women can only dream of providing. In her first 6 months in the business, Venus has appeared in over 20 scenes with top studios including Kink, Evil Angel, SMC, Grooby and Devil's Film. Don't let those names mislead you though, Venus looks more like an angel than a devil!
Venus Lux: A Libra T-Girl Ruled by Venus.
For those of you who know your astrology, Venus Lux is a Libra ruled by Venus who revels in luxury. We're not sure what that means, but we are sure that Venus is a T-Girl sensation. Apparently, the AVN awards agree, and she scored nominations for Transsexual Performer of the Year and Best Transsexual Scene in 2012. Now that's the definition of up and coming, and she's got our cock up and cumming too!
Venus Lux is one of the hottest transsexual performers in porn today. Although she's been in the industry for a mere 10 months, her drive and talent is clearly shining through attracting fans and making many in the industry stand up and take notice. Dave Kingsley of Orgasm.com had a chance to speak to Venus about her passion for camming, her popularity and the importance of branding.
Dave Kingsley: First off, congratulations you on your XBIZ and AVN Award nominations, and along with you four Tranny Awards. How have these accolades helped your career so far?
Venus Lux: It's just a title. In a way you can say either you're a nominee or you're a winner. It's just a title. It does have some perks. People kind of start idolizing you. So it's a form of validation. For me, it hasn't really taken much affect on me. Yes, it kind of gets people to do the oohs and ahs, but overall it comes down to the quality of the work.
DK: At the same time, it's a good feeling. I guess you're getting recognized for your body of work.
Venus: Yeah. It does. Being new to the industry, it's still my first year, it's only been 9 or 10 months, so it hasn't even been a year yet. So, it's actually kind of a rewarding feeling to know that people appreciate my work and having these nominations kind of helped push that toward the audience.
DK: As you mentioned, you haven't been in the industry too long, however your popularity keeps on increasing. What do you attribute your early success to?
Venus: I guess it’s because I'm so new to the industry that my career is always progressing. It's not going to go back because I'm consistently working and getting my name, my brand, and my work out there. I think being in such an industry it gives me a leg up because as I said, I'm still considered the new girl and people are still learning who I am and what I do so that kind of draws people in to become my fans. I think for the next couple of months to a year I'll be consistently shooting new stuff and actually giving my audience a better perspective of what I'm capable of doing when it comes to my scenes which is not just limited to guys or girls or just fetishes but maybe a blend or even more. So, I also have big plans with my company. I just had launched my company in October and I plan to expand my brand. But not just by my name but also by my company so you'll see me directing more down the line and producing quality content. That's pretty much what I foresee in the next couple months to a year.
DK: You have a very striking name—very original. How did you come with it?
Venus: People keep saying that it sounds kind of like a cartoon character name or a sci-fi name. But how Venus Lux actually came about was through Venus, I guess because I am a Libra and I always believed a lot of the attributes of a Libra applied to me. For instance like a hopeless romantic I guess. So, it's ruled by Venus so I was like "Okay, you know what? Yeah, I'm not going to call myself Libra. I'm just going to call myself Venus!". And Lux I guess because of the fact that I do like the nice things in life and relate to luxury so I just cut it short and made it Lux. So, Venus Lux sounded pretty cool to me at that time and I stuck with it ever since and now here I am. Venus Lux.
DK: Another pretty amazing thing that kind of happened to you recently is that you are actually going to be the cover subject for Transformations Magazine and that's coming out very soon. What was that experience like?
Venus: Wow. That's a totally different experience because I'm not used to those kinds of interview questions. The questions that I had were very personal. It actually makes you think really hard about your past and your experiences and kind of dig deep and pull out how you felt at that moment in that situation. So, it's kind of a little overwhelming for me to kind of think about the past and "How am I going to put this down on paper?" You know? Just kind of having it written up where my audience can understand it and not kind of get bored or sidetracked from it. It's an awesome experience because I'm very happy to provide to info for the interview the way I did because it actually gives my fans a more personal perspective of who I am and what I do and where I come from. It's an awesome experience and I'm very privileged that Transformations is going to have me on their cover and I guess their subject for the magazine.
Shooting for the magazine was thrilling. Coming up with different concepts and ideas and trying not to conform to a typical tutorial look or lingerie look or a porn look. Kind of have a variety of images that can convey who I am which is many shades of the rainbow. It was an awesome experience and I can't wait for it to be released.
DK: That's really cool. Now going back to again to your name and the whole thing you've done across a whole year, what's the importance of branding and marketing yourself in the adult industry and doing it properly?
Venus: Well it's the porn industry. It's not like I could be 45 years old or 60 years old and still look hot, you know what I mean? So, it's part of branding myself and setting up my future and marketing myself well gives me cushion in the future if I happen to have the option to, or desire to quit porn, or stop performing, or something happens; I have to kind of prepare myself for the future. By doing so, right now I guess I'm kind of putting 1000% into branding myself as Venus Lux, transsexual performer and hopefully I can jump the line as crossover performer to mainstream. It's very essential at this point in my career being so new because you kind of have to take advantage of this situation where people are just trying to get to know you and you're trying to captivate them. So as I said you kind of have to focus on promoting.
Giving out promotional products and show people isn’t all you have to do. They have to see more layers to it. Anyways, it's pretty important to just brand yourself and not kind of lose track of time by partying and just doing performing and then ending up forgetting your career, your focus, and your ambition. Like I said, you can't be in this industry for 50 years and still be able to make the same amount of money you do now. If you want to have a good future you have to really brand yourself and market yourself well enough that you can make a sustainable career.
DK: You mentioned another interesting thing; that being the mainstream aspect. Can you tell us how you're transitioning into that and getting into mainstream sometime in your career?
Venus: Well, I guess because I am a business woman at heart and also being transsexual. Being transsexual, because it's very difficult having so many stigmas from all sides, from the straight porn industry to the real world to some of your fans or viewers. So with that said, I have to kind of seize the opportunities that come my way. So I'm always keeping myself open and accommodating to people and their possible business ideas. Now and then I'll get maybe some proposal like, "Hey, do you want to do a documentary?" Or, "Hey, you want to do an interview or a catalog? Do you want to do a movie?"
It's these opportunities that come up so for me, I have to prepare myself for this and I would love to start getting into mainstream work. I think it helps build up my name, my brand quicker than just porn advertisements by itself. For instance like Yasmin Lee, she's famous now because of Hangover II, but I'm pretty sure before Hangover II the general public didn't really know who she was.
She was the transsexual in Hangover II. There's some recognition there. So, I would love to have that and hopefully utilize that kind of fame in a positive manner to bring up more awareness of transsexuals in the industry and in the real world because I feel like there's so much stigmas and stereotypes that affect transsexuals that there needs to be some changes. One of my main goals and passions in getting myself to be a crossover to mainstream is to kind of get some more power to send positive messages to people and let them know that transsexuals are normal people. We're not just a sex fetish toy.
DK: Well put. Also, you do some camming. Tell us a little bit about that experience. How did you get work camming and how are you enjoying it?
Venus: Camming is awesome. It's a totally different concept compared to shooting porn. When I'm on cam I'm usually by myself. I haven't done a show with me with a girl or with me with a guy yet. It's just me. So it's very different. It's more intimate of course. I do love it, because I do get a chance to talk to my fans or meet them online and get paid for it. So, it's fun. I can be myself. I'm able to show more of my personality while camming than in doing porn. In porn I'm more like acting and it doesn't show too much of my personality so I actually love camming. It's fun, it's carefree and you can do it on your own time.
DK: You've been in the industry for about nine to ten months now. Do you have any people that are your mentors that really have helped you out?
Venus:I never had any dedicated mentors, I've always been an independent woman. I started off in this industry through Kink.com and ever since that I ask people as I go. So, when I bump into people at Kink or people in San Francisco, or Chicago, or L.A. if I feel there's some trust there then I can ask them some questions. I don't really have technically a mentor I just ask people who I can trust and kind of confide in and get some advice or suggestions. From that, I use that as my resource to get other information and kind of get ahead. So, this is my only way of educating myself about the porn industry. It's always been like this in the last 9-10 months. It's the journey. It's really a journey doing it by myself. I have a few producer friends within the industry who, now and then if I need information I'll ask them like, "Hey can you help me out with this situation? I could really use your opinion on this." I do occasionally have those situations because like I said, I'm new to the industry and I kind of dive in head first into this industry not knowing what to expect. I'm just learning as I go.
DK: Going back to a couple of your projects you're doing right now. One of them is your webpage which launched in October. Can you tell us a little about it and some of the pros and cons that you've encountering when making your own site?
Venus: I wanted to be different and I wanted to make more money for myself and also claim and also kind of feel like I accomplished something. That was the main purpose of me building my own site by myself and not conforming with the other girls and joining network where it's more a mechanical relationship where you just show up, you do it, and you get paid. It's the same concept as paid work. So for me, I like to challenge myself. I've always been like this, wanting to try something different and learn something new. Basically incorporating my business and launching my website tested my skills and knowledge of the porn industry and also gave me the opportunity to meet new people and learn new things about the industry.
One thing I love about having my website is the fact that I actually can see my fans enjoying my work. When you hear people on Facebook or Twitter you don't know, how do they know you, how they find your stuff, where do they know you from? For me I know that these fans love my ideas that I put into my website. That I'm able to have my own input into it opposed to working for other companies where it's kind of a set thing. So, it's kind of set up for you when you're working for other companies. From my side I get to kind of test myself like "Hey, maybe I could try this idea. Maybe this might make people even more horny." Or you can treat people in a different manner like oh, maybe that could be totally different and I could try that in my personal life.
This is one of the challenges I enjoy, other challenges I also enjoy is the fact that I can do something very productive. Something hands on. Me directing, and producing, and managing the content. Building my website, building my company. Putting my ideas to good use and taking that risk and trying to see if I can build something for myself. Those are the main highlights for having a website. The cons would be managing the website for myself. It's having so much ambition and goals for this website. It sometimes can be overwhelming especially when it comes to my schedule. I'm always flying about, going meeting people or focusing on some project and when I'm done with that I have to get back home and get on my laptop and kind of make some phone calls and fix some bugs or answer some fan mail etc... So that's kind of the sucky part of it but it's definitely part of it. It comes with the package of having a website and I can't complain! I think the pros definitely overpower the cons. It's just a matter of time management and doing the marketing. Marketing is always fun. To see my fans actually enjoying the promotional content that I put out. That's the way, how I usually market my website and just kind of seeing the reactions of my fans. It really thrills me and kind of pushes me forward to produce better quality content for my website. It's a job of it's own. Let's just say that.
DK: Well it sounds like you really have a lot of stuff on your plate these days. What's your fetish that you really enjoy indulging in?
Venus: I have so many fetishes. I love nipple play. I like getting my nipples massaged, sucked on and pinched. I also love body hair. I'm old school: I like the '70s and '80s vintage porn; it turns me on so much. So what if it's black and white or if it's really shitty quality? It's hot when you see these guys or girls with bushes and then guys with there mustaches and hairy chests. That really turns me on a lot! I prefer men with chest hair. Even if you have back hair. Yeah, that's awesome. I love it. I love to run my hands through it. I think those are the two main fetishes I like to indulge.
Another one I like to explore more is threesomes. Jumping into the industry I never intended to like girls in the way I do now. I guess because being in the situation of having to fuck a girl in porn kind of helped me build a general idea of liking of girls. I'm still kind of confused and still to it and I'm still exploring my interest with women but what really turns me on is doing a threesome. I don't know why. I guess because I'm with guys so often it's kind of like a plain Jane kind of thing; just lay on my back now. I guess when there's another variable into it like where there's a girl involved, that really turns me on because I can test it, I can watch. Kind of have that voyeuristic type situation or I can join in. It really appeals to me and I really like that in my personal life and my professional life. So that's one thing I'm learning to indulge which is couples and threesomes or swingers. You name it.
DK: What is something people out there don't know about Venus Lux?
Venus: I'm pretty open about myself on my Twitter and my Facebook accounts. I've always been like that. I don't care too much for my privacy. I guess people don't know about me because I'm still testing the water with women and also in general just testing my sexuality because being in porn I'm shooting with girls, guys and TS and the whole nine yards you know? People always ask me what I prefer in my personal life. People always ask me. Guys? Girls? Lesbians? Gay Guys? Everyone asks me…transsexuals? So they ask me, "OK, I've seen you in this scene with this girl. Do you like girls?" and there's other questions like "I've seen you fuck a TS. Do you like TS girls?"
I guess because I'm so new, I'm still testing my sexuality and I can literally say I do like girls, but I'm still working on it! Just being with just a girl in an intimate setting, I'm not at that point yet to where I'm comfortable enough. I can't just do that with some other girl. It's intimidating for me. I don't know what it is but I do like girls, but I'm picky. I prefer a guy. If it's a transsexual, I don't know why but I'm very drawn to Danni Daniels. I don't know why. I guess because she's so robotic and she's a dominatrix and she's a fetish model…I'm used to masculinity so this whole femininity thing is really new to me. So that's why I guess I’m drawn to Danni Daniels who is really attractive to me.
I guess that’s what my fans don't know about me: that I do enjoy sex scenes or threesome scenes with transsexuals or with girls as long as there's a guy there!
DK: Thanks for your time Venus. It was a pleasure speaking to you!
