Kaz B is known as a popular porn star in the UK, but she also has a solid body of work in the mainstream. Kaz B also has worked at the BBC, so she knows a thing or two about the media. Dave Kingsley of Orgasm News recently caught up to the Kaz B and spoke to her about her thoughts on the US porn market, her DJing career, as well as working with porn superstar Vicky Vette.

 

Dave Kingsley: You have recently joined the Vicky Vette’s Network (VNA.) Congrats! How did this arrangement come about? Do you know Vicky well?

 

Kaz B: I’d shared tweets with Vicky a few times and admired her work, but it was my Webmaster who runs SexyUkpornstars that tipped me off that Vicky was looking for more British girls to join up. It meant that my members would get access to all the live porn stars shows. Then the penny dropped and I realized that I would also be able to access all the shows and perve on the creme de la creme of porn! How could any naughty bi slut resist that!!

 

DK: Along with being a great business opportunity, you are joining some great company there including Puma Swede, Sara Jay, and Deauxma to name a few. What do expect to learn from these other solid performers?

 

Kaz: I know! It’s a really exciting time for me! Well I think we conduct business slightly differently at times in the UK, and I feel a lot can be learnt from the US stars. For example they are very professional, and their performances slick. (No pun intended). The way they market themselves is something I would like to learn more about.

 

DK: What do you love about doing web-cam shows? Do you think this is the future of porn?

 

Kaz: I love the direct feedback. I guess it’s like a drug or a bar of chocolate in that it gives you that instant reward. I love hearing (and seeing if they have a web cam too) how turned on they are. It encourages me to be even wilder than I am already and I feel I can really let loose and go crazy!

 

Do I think it’s the future? Yes I do. I think a lot of people are bored with porn nowadays or don’t want to pay for it. You might be able to get free porn on the tube sites, but you can never replace the experience of interacting with your favorite porn stars and directing them somewhat. The future—I believe—is being able to control remotely their sex toys and a more 3D experience where you can give your favorite star an orgasm by pressing a few buttons on your keypad!! When you say ‘Make me cum baby!’ they really can!

 

DK: How has working as a media coordinator for the BBC helped you adjust to the porn industry? What are a few skills that you have transferred over?

 

Kaz: Yes—as from day 1 I have treated it as a business (albeit an enjoyable one!). I can imagine it’s very easy for some to get caught up in the excitement and forget to plan anything or promote themselves effectively. Therefore I think having a background in broadcast prepared me for things such as dealing with media, interviews and dare I use such a cliché – ‘thinking outside the box’ [laughs.]

 

Skills I have transferred are: planning, time management, organization, effective communication – I’ll stop as I’m boring myself now!

 

DK: Additionally, you have been a DJ. What elements of being a DJ have you lent to being a porn star?

 

Kaz: As a DJ it’s a bit like talking to yourself and hoping that people are paying attention! Of course the purpose is to entertain others  - as is performing. I would say the art of rambling enough bollocks when necessary is important in both, as is knowing when to shut up and play a tune or a skin flute!

 

DK: You are known as being really naughty! What are some naughty things that turn you on?

 

Kaz: Some things I love are dressing up and role playing, sex outdoors, lots of baby oil, threesomes, foursomes…..how long ya got? [laughs]

 

DK: Can you tell us about any current mainstream projects you are working on?

 

Kaz: Next month [March 2013] I’m filming on a low budget Brit flick. It’s hardly top dollar but I am a big supporter of British movies. I play a gangsters moll. There is a scene where I am noshing someone off to which is right up my alley! I’m also in talks with a couple of directors about mainstream roles so fingers crossed!

 

DK: It said on your bio that you are writing a screenplay. Can you share with us a bit about what’s it about?

 

Kaz: The screenplay is on hold at present. I have written a pilot for a sitcom, which I want to re-write a little. It’s about holiday reps and it’s based on when I was a holiday rep before I went into broadcasting. So if anyone is interested in funding feel free to contact me.

 

DK: What are some of your favorite writers? Why?

 

Kaz: As soon as I learnt to read my Dad got me onto Enid Blyton and I was hooked. I love the fantasy genre and how it magically transports you to another world. You could be playing the drums next to me, but if I’m engrossed in a book I’ll be utterly absorbed in it and not notice anything around me!  I’m also a huge fan of Anne Rice, especially The Vampire Chronicles, and Christopher Paolini. I just finished reading Judy Studdard called ‘Escape from Dinosaur Planet!’

 

DK: What are your thoughts on the porn industry in Europe especially in the UK? One of your country-mates, Tanya Tate made the move to the United States recently and she’s flourishing. Are you considering making a move across the pond?

 

Kaz: The industry is a lot smaller here and a lot lower budget. Amateur porn is quite big here, and fortunately that seems to be a reflection of the consumers needs rather than vice versa! Everything about the States intrigues me. I love the accents and the way they are so ultra friendly. So what if it’s a bit fake?! I’d rather a fake smile and a ‘have a nice day’ than some grumpy twat in a hoodie grunting at you!

 

I’d love to spend a long time in the States, although I don’t think I could move full time for now, I’d miss my family too much!

 

DK: Do you think American porn audiences are ready for your down and dirty style of porn?

 

Kaz: Hell yeah! From what I see American girls certainly know how to play hard style baby! Having said that I’m told a nice but naughty British accent is a turn on for some. We always like what’s different though don’t we? For me I just love American and Irish accents too!

 

DK: How did you come up with your porn star name?

 

Kaz: Ha….this is a bit sad! When I was little I used to make my own radio shows on a tape recorder – it was my dream to be famous and be on the radio (oh little did I know!) Kaz B was my DJ name, I thought it was really cool back then (cringe) then when I did my first DJing gig at college where everyone knew me as Kaz and I kept it – it was short and sweet & I never really understood the attraction and tendency towards names such as ‘Chardonnay’ or ‘Lamborghini’.

 

Behind the scenes my nickname was Pixie! A name I loved and would have used, however even back then I knew the importance of branding and couldn’t see it as working so well when I reached my 40’s!

 

DK: What attracted you to porn? Can you tell us a little a bit about your transition from civilian life to porn star?

 

Kaz: Well I loved the idea of being an exhibitionist, but was very shy for many years so the camera was a good excuse for me to experiment with my wild side!

 

DK: Have there been any porn stars that you particularly enjoyed working with? Why?

 

Kaz: Aww too many to mention and I hate getting into these popularity games!

 

DK: Porn is a really tough industry to be in. What have you done to keep yourself at the top of the game and successful?

 

Kaz: [Laughs] Well I’m not sure about being at the top but I’ve worked my arse off, put in the extra mile and treated people with the respect that I expect to receive from them. The top can some become the bottom if you are a twat to people and lazy or unreliable!

 

DK: If you had an opportunity to produce, write and director your own porn tomorrow with limitless funds, what would it be about? Who would you cast?

 

Kaz: Ah cheeky – not giving away all my ideas! I’d like to have female gangsters though and I’d like it to have a very gritty Britty feel. I’d definitely have a few US stars in there too though. Sasha Gray, if I could convince her to do one last movie, even if it was only a cameo. I’d also love to get some non porn stars in cameo’s, might be tricky getting round their PR.

 

DK: What has been the wildest porn star that you have ever worked with?

 

Kaz: Wildest? For the purpose of discretion I am going to assume you mean on screen and not rock n roll personal lives! So in that case Angel Long and Tallulah Tease who is an anal queen and hardcore to the bone!

 

DK: What has been the wildest and craziest sexual experience that you have ever been involved in?

 

Kaz: I don’t think I could single out one. I once took part in a 30-girl gangbang but I don’t think it was ever released. Some of the stuff I’ve done for Glimpse was pretty extreme. In my personal life I’d say probably threesomes and foursomes with some fellow porn stars.

 

DK: Did you have any mentors when you started out in porn? If so, who were they and how did they help you?

 

Kaz: My biggest mentor was a Jewish fella called Joe A who has since passed on. He was a bit of a grumpy git at times, but one of the kindest, most helpful and caring people you could meet. He introduced me to a lot of the decent industry folk, told me who to avoid and really was a mentor. He also made the best chili and threw great parties! Also Faye Rampton was/is a great chick (and top notch performer) her and her man are so genuine and are two of my inspirations.

 

DK: Have you mentored any porn stars yourself? What advice what you give girls thinking about getting into porn?

 

Kaz: Yes I have. After Joe passed on, he was sorely missed by many & I wanted to give back the kindness that I had been treated with. I had a lot of girls contact me asking me how to start out and what the pitfalls were. I always do my best to try and point them in the right direction.

 

Advice I’d give to girls starting out in the industry is: decide what level you want to shoot – i.e. solo/girl-girl and stick to it. Never, ever decide spontaneously on a shoot to do more than agreed, think about it long and hard first. Anything you shoot can and will be out there on the net for a long time so don’t make rash decisions and do anything you may regret in a few years.

DK: What is a celebrity or porn star that you would love to have sex with? Why?

 

Kaz: Christ, how long have you got? In terms of looks – Hunter Parish and David Borenaz…I can say them as it’s unlikely I’ll ever meet them! There are also people I’d do because they are hilariously funny or have compelling characters. It’s partly due to my insatiable sex drive and partly my love of making connections with people.

 

DK: Do you have a secret fetish that you can share with us? If so, when did you discover it?

 

Kaz: I think after 7 years of doing porn it’s pretty hard to keep any fetishes secret! I do have a fetish or more of a kink I’d say for going commando in a hot climate…and I love having my neck and ears nibbled! When did I discover this? Kaz: A nice cold bottle of champers on the beach or at the park on a sunny day, followed by a kiss and a moonlight stroll—stroll being a metaphor of course for a good hard rogering! [laughs]

 

DK: What was the best concert that you have ever attended? Who is your favorite group/singer at the moment?

 

Kaz: I went to see Oasis & it was shite due to overcrowding! They were such a sell out! So…I’d say Blur live at Wembley arena. Damon Albarn is totally gorgeous and he is just adorable live. To be fair, he could have just come out in his parka and said’ alright, no singing, I’m just going say ‘Parklife’ and I’d have gushed! The music was pretty fab though! I bought photo’s of him & Jarvis Cocker in the foyer then at school the next day, I pretended that I took the photo’s myself. Everyone was so impressed and jealous. I hate lying though so I couldn’t keep up the pretence for long!

 

DK: What has been the importance of branding and marketing yourself in the adult industry?

 

Kaz: Marketing and branding is everything. The most popular brands have kept their branding consistent, even when they have changed their product to keep it new and shiny! I have followed the same formula. It’s also keeping a balance or professionalism, yet not too detached. I think interactivity is something a lot of companies do now with social networks and so on and it’s something I feel is very important or you run the risk of forgetting what your fans really want.

 

DK: What is the importance of Social Media including Twitter to your career?

 

Kaz: I am hooked on Twitter! I love being able to get something out to my fans straight away and it’s wonderful being able to get their thoughts and opinions. It’s very important for me to ensure my products reflect my fans’ needs and desires, as well as influence them. Some of them are so funny and brilliant too; I love hearing from them.

 

DK: Have your family and friends been supportive of your move into porn? If so, how did you break it to them?

 

Kaz: Yes. It was tricky at first and they were not exactly thrilled—understandably. I told my Mum first. I invited her to stay; cooked and told her over drinks.

 

It must be hard for any parent to hear their little girl is making Blue Movies so I did my best to reassure them I was taking precautions with health and safety and answer any of their concerns. My Dad sort of understood, as he is very much an entertainer at heart and could understand my need to entertain, educate and inform people.

 

He’s a funny guy and we get on brilliantly and often sing duets together.  My Mum is a diamond too. She hated my job but would often do my hair before shoots and buy me accessories for glamour shoots too. It was her way of saying ‘I don’t like this but if you are going to do it make sure you represent yourself well’. My sisters are also great – I couldn’t ask for a better family, even if they are all as batshit insane as I am!

 

DK: Do you think the Internet is helping or destroying the porn industry?

 

Kaz: Hmmm – it’s helped it evolve. There are pros and cons. Firstly it evolved from merely print & R18’s to websites too. The tube sites really don’t help because they promote piracy. Having said that, the porn industry is always adjusting and changing, so whilst it’s harder to earn money through membership sites, it does allow for more interaction with fans and I believe that in the long run, that can only be a good thing as long as you are prepared to put the work in!

 

DK: What is something people don’t know about you?

 

Kaz: When I was two years old I won a toddler’s baby pageant called ‘Miss Peggety’ in Butlins! My childhood inspirations were Doris Day, Judy Garland, Elvis Presley & Madonna to name a few!
