Orgasm News: What are some new projects are you working on now?

Charmane Star: My latest DVD is Virtual Charmane…but the latest project I have working on for the last 9 month is I’ve been producing a new Dining Show. It’s mainstream and we are [currently] pitching it to HBO, Showtime and various Travel Channels. That’s one project I’ve been working on for a while and we’ve shot the first reel and we are editing it as we speak. And as soon as I get back we can pitch it and somebody picks it up.

 

Orgasm News: Are you slowly getting into mainstream then?

Charmane: I am a crossover already. I have shot for HBO and Cinemax…I have something on ONDemand called Sexual Quest for Cinemax. And Sextapes for Cinemax [which aired November 3, 2012.]

 

Orgasm News: What’s your role on Sex Tapes?

Charmane: I have a lead role; it’s a scripted movie/show. Its about 90 minutes long and it’s about a married couples’  [sexual life.] There’s a lot of cheating and scandal…And Sex tapes is where one of the characters hides his camera and he shoots all of the girls he has…secret affairs with.
Orgasm News: What inspired you to get into the Adult Film Industry?

Charmane: Money of course! I started in the industry 10 years ago; I was in my twenties and I was working at Nordstrom: a 9 to 5 job. And then Hustler gave me a cover and centerfold and they paid me a lot of money at the time so that’s what really inspired me at the time. But after 6 or 7 years I started learning about business and [about] marketing and branding myself and pushing myself to do different things. So here I am!

 

Orgasm News: One of the most important things—when it comes to being a porn star—is marketing and branding. How important has it become in your career?

Charmane: It is very important to me. Every day and every week I’m constantly networking through my website, through social media [and at] conventions…It definitely puts my name out there and keeps me in business. I am my own business and it’s just nice to have fans to know I’m out there interacting with them.

 

Orgasm News: What can we expect from Charmane Star in next couple of years?

Charmane: Well hopefully my new dining show [will be released.] It’s a fun show. It’s an Anthony Bourdain-meets-sex pretty much. I’m the host of the show and on every episode I’m going to have the top girls in the industry or even celebrity guests. They join us for dinner at different restaurants and we dine and talk about sex, their personal lives, and their fantasies while dining!

 

Orgasm News: When you started in the Industry a decade did you have any mentors: porn stars or anyone who took you under their wing and helped you out?

Charmane: Yes, 10 years ago I had Mark Davis…he’s a legend in the industry. He was like a big brother to me. At the time, the [adult film] industry was a much smaller union. He guided me to all the right companies to shoot for and all the good people.

This business will eat you up! They will definitely tell you to do a DP or a gangbang or whatever at 20 years old which I haven’t done after tens years so I got lucky (laugh.) I did anal but that’s ok, there’s nothing bad about going backdoor!

 

Orgasm News: What advice would you give any starlets starting out in the industry?

Charmane: My only advice is if this is what you really want to do and you want to think long term: save yourself. Save yourself until you are in demand, but [that’s long term.] But if you want fast money, it’s there. I’m an adult and everyone can make their own decisions, but that’s my own advice because if you really want to be in this business and stick around then just wait and see where it goes. It seems that every 5 years this business keeps on taking a turn.

 

Orgasm News: How did you come up with the name Charmane Star?

Charmane: I don’t know when I came up with my name. I liked that name Charmane and I just threw the Star in.

 

Orgasm News: What’s your ultimate fantasy?

Charmane: I don’t have any new fantasies but I’m willing to try some new ones. If anybody tells me anything…because my latest fantasy, I should say my partner’s fantasy…he likes doing the fishhook thing. And I’m like, really? He just likes to degrade me, but I was like you know what? If it’s your fantasy so it will be my fantasy too. The fishhook is a new thing for me (laughs)

 

Orgasm News: What celebrity would you like to make a sex tape with?

Charmane: Oooo, check this out. I was flying from Los Angeles to Toronto and they had a few movies I had to chose from and I haven’t seen Magic Mike! And I finally saw it. And let me tell you Channing Tatum: I want to bang that motherfucker! First of all, when he came out, he had different outfits and when he wore that hat and sweater and he came out with My Pony by Ginuwine. My panties got all wet.
