While the rise of the Internet saw a slew a free adult content posted to the web, which made some webmasters rich in advertising and membership fees, pornstars were deeply affected, as the revenues collected by such sites did not trickle down to them, and the content was often ripped off and pirated. Many of the stars that were used to a steady stream on income found it hard to adapt to changing revenue streams.
