Hulk Hogan recently spoke to Howard Stern and admitted that he was fooling around behind his friend’s back. In fact, his best friend, Bubba the Love Sponge, told Hogan that he could have sex with his then-wife Heather Clem. Clem was also in on it! Take for example the case of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee. Sure, she is (by most standards) “HOT.” And Tommy Lee indeed has a impaling mechanism that truly needs to be seen. But early on she makes it clear that she’s not comfortable with the camera and/or the idea of having their innermost intimate moments captured on film. THIS MAKES ME UNCOMFORTABLE.

The same can be said for Paris Hilton. And while honestly, there was a time when someone could’ve told me “Dude did you hear? Paris Hilton just fell off her hooker heels, onto a freeway onramp and got hit by 6 streetracers doing 90!” and I probably would have laughed and collected the money won from years of including her in a ‘Death Pool.’ But once again, she expressed a definite disinterest and apprehension at being recorded in her most vulnerable of states. She’s obviously fine with it being out and, from what I’ve been told, really needed the cash money. Attempts to start a company to handle the sale and distribution were ultimately scrapped and the tape fell by the wayside, except for some release forms that were indeed signed. Flash forward, and the word on the street is that the fat, ugly, DAMN LUCKY, balding, redheaded-redneck who appears “alongside” Kendra, shopped the tape himself. Successfully.

The first thing that pissed me off is that we immediately got a SAD, SHOCKED, and AFRAID FOR HER MARRIAGE Kendra gracing the covers of magazines as far and wide as…well just very far and wide. The story line has since found its way onto her stupid reality show, which makes me throw up a little at each and every teaser ad on TV (YEAH. I watch a lot of E! Don’t judge).

But here’s the thing. This is all bigger than her. Bigger than E! Bigger than personal feelings of sloppy blondes who are ultimately “betrayed” by once trusted boyfriends and confidants. This shouldn’t be found sexy. This shouldn’t turn you on. I don’t really understand anyone who wouldn’t watch this sort of phenomenon and feel a little dirty inside and realize it’s actually not very fun after all. I remember the first time seeing a “Girls Gone Wild” video and immediately thinking there must be a shit-ton of pissed off fathers of drunk daughters, out there seeking revenge on Joe Francis. ESPECIALLY upon hearing that all they receive in return for their model release is a GGW t-shirt. AND “Boys Gone Wild” is even worse!! Sure, it’s entirely consensual, but it’s uncomfortable, and simply translates into gross feelings and the overwhelming need to take a shower (there are few things more awkward than watching some poor shlub do the helicopter and try to jerk his noodle dick while hearing the announcer girl laugh at him from behind the camera).

I’m sure there are those out there who feel differently, and to them I say ‘shame on you.’ Unless someone is expressly looking to be humiliated I don’t think that sort of thing has a place in the bedroom, and by association, our DVD players. Kendra isn’t scarred by her involvement in the tape, it’s been many years and she’s happy, married to a man who loves her, former Philadelphia Eagles receiver; Hank Baskett. But she may have forgotten how that felt in the moment. She had a controlling prick telling her what to do, ignoring her many requests to turn the camera off, zooming in at times after she’d persistently asked him not to. Unfortunately the release of this tape (and she DID ultimately get a cut of it’s profits – being paid an incredible $800k before the tape even hit the shelves) does nothing to help the idea of women empowering themselves through comfortable sexuality and nudity (if they so wish). Instead this is just another creepy attempt to titillate and stimulate the fucktards of the world who only see a naked body and gyrating genitalia. And while I too am a fan of both aforementioned visual perks, my pants are staying on for this one.

I will admit to being somewhat amused when she was a regular on the original incarnation of The Girls Next Door; the reality show that documented the lives of Hugh Hefner, Playboy overlord, and his 3 blonde haired, big-titted bedfellows. That show also featured Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt, both of whom have gone on to star in their own assortment of E! malaise. Some people can be dumb and make you think how cute they are. Not Kendra. When the show featured the creation of her theme song by Play-N-Skillz and Too $hort and Kendra proceeds to explain how “old school” and “on top of their game” they are, I could only reflect upon my years working in a record store in the early 90′s when that statement was actually true.

ANYWAY, Vivid has located an intimate video with Kendra and a, as of yet unidentified, sex partner (it takes place before her meeting and marrying Philadelphia Eagles receiver Hank Baskett) made prior to her moving into the Playboy mansion. Black released a statement, saying: “It is unfortunate that individuals and other outside parties are trying to profit from material which is clearly private.” His statement also emphasized the importance of responsible sexual practices.

Dustin Diamond of Saved by the Bell fame authorized the release of a 40-minute sex tape in 2006 in the hopes that it would bring in profits and provide a boost to his career.

Fred Durst, the frontman for the band Limp Bizkit, had a video of him and an unknown woman having sex leaked onto the internet by a repairman who had been repairing his computer. He later sued the website Gawker and nine others for $70 million dollars for publishing it.

John Edwards, former Senator and Presidential candidate, had a sex tape surface in early 2010. The tape depicts Edwards having sex with his mistress Rielle Hunter, reportedly while Hunter was pregnant with their love child. The tape was discovered by former Edwards aide Andrew Young among a box of personal items left at his home by Hunter. On 5 February 2010, Judge Abraham Penn Jones ordered the tape must be turned over to the court as part of a case to determine if hush money paid to Hunter by Edwards’ 2008 Presidential Campaign constituted a violation of campaign finance laws.

Amy Fisher, the famous “Long Island Lolita” who in 1992, at the age of 17, shot the wife of her 36 year old lover Joey Buttafuoco, in 2007 made a number of sex tapes with her husband Louis Bellera. In late 2007, nude pictures of Fisher appeared on the internet, followed shortly by several of the videos. Katrina Halili’s “Hayden Camera” controversy leaked in May 2009 which showed videos that reveal sexual encounters between Halili and Dr. Hayden Kho, distributed over the internet without her consent.

Tonya Harding and her husband Jeff Gillooly had a sex tape that was leaked onto the internet and subsequently became so widely available that the couple decided to legitimately release it on their own. This footage, along with additional full-color footage, was released commercially under the title “1 Night in Paris.”

Vietnamese television star Hoàng Thùy Linh lost her job on a TV series after a video of the 19-year-old having sex with her boyfriend was released on the internet.

Ulrika Jonsson won a court order banning footballer Stan Collymore from selling an explicit video of the pair having sex.

Socialite Kim Kardashian confirmed the existence of a sex tape of her made by then-boyfriend Ray J. She threatened to take legal action to block its planned distribution by Vivid Video. Her sex tape arguably made her a household name when E! gave her and her family an appearance in a reality show called “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”

Jayne Kennedy, a former sportscaster and blaxploitation actress, had a sex tape stolen and released showing her with former husband Leon Isaac Kennedy.

Joanie Laurer (better known as Chyna) and fellow professional wrestler Sean Waltman (aka X-Pac) appeared in a home sex tape sold under the title “1 Night in China.” The tape was not leaked, but was actually solicited to pornographic film distributors by the duo.

Jenna Lewis, a contestant on Survivor, had her wedding night sex tape released. It features 42 minutes of sex with her husband, model Travis Wolfe, in a Las Vegas, Nevada hotel room.

Rob Lowe faced controversy in the 1980s; he taped himself having sex with two young women, one of whom was underage.

Mimi Macpherson is a celebrity in Australia and sister of supermodel Elle Macpherson. She made a sex tape with boyfriend Michael Hellwig.

Ophélie-Marie and her boyfriend recorded themselves having sex. A former Playboy Playmate who appeared in the magazine’s French edition in 2006, she was also a cast member of a French reality show “Secret Story” in 2007. This video was tagged “The Real Sextape” because in the past she had promoted a poker website with a fake sextape. At the moment, there is no official news about legal proceedings.

Carolyn Murphy’s ex-husband Jake Schroeder allegedly tried to sell a tape featuring them having sex during their honeymoon in 1999 while in Barbados. Abi Titmuss, a British TV personality, appears in a sex tape featuring herself, her ex–TV presenter boyfriend John Leslie, and different women.

Verne Troyer, actor and stuntman, is currently suing over the release of a sex tape between himself and a model, which he claims was stolen and is in the hands of the same film producer that released Paris Hilton’s sex tape.

Severina Vučković, a Croatian pop star known for promoting abstinence, had a tape of her having sex with a married man released on the Internet in 2004. She claimed the video was stolen and sued. The case was later dismissed.
